An interesting cave

So, last night as I watched some friends do 8-Man Terror from Beyond HM, they stumbled upon a cave while looking out for chests. In the cave was absolutely nothing, however, I mentioned it was “too nice looking to not do anything”. It turns out my suspicions may have been correct.

I received an e-mail this evening from a fairly well-known guild which caught me by surprise letting me know about the message they saw and how they hadn’t been able to figure it out, but hoped I’d be able to help.

And considering I love mysteries, I have hopped on that train immediately. First thing I did was bug one of my friends to see if I could look around his instance. After some begging and a promise I wouldn’t take as long as EC, he said yes πŸ˜› So I began my journey and for those who can’t watch or due to the fact that the text sucks (because procaster isn’t the best quality and X-Split hates me…), well, I shall tell you anyway!

I went ahead and explored TfB a bit and also grabbed the codex entry because I kind of forgot about the speeder >> Umm…anyway… so I got to the cave and nothing. So, I asked him to change it to 16-man HM and exited. Headed back (and remembered the speeder this time) and the message I was told about successfully pops up: “You feel a strange and chilling presence.”

This will appear every single time you exit and enter the cave on 16-man HM. The question now is if it also appears on Story Mode…and if so, both 8-man and 16-man or just one? Due to it not showing on 8-man HM, I’m leaning towards 16-man only or just 16-man HM, but still best to test to see.

They did try bringing an ice scrabbler jerky buff into the cave and nothing happened. Some ideas I’ve thought up is bringing the Water Vaporator Buff in there and/or an Orobird egg in there and see what may happen, if anything.

My best ideas over to what it could possibly be is either a pet (afterall, there seem to be a lot upcoming) or some kind of lightsaber crystal. I kind of have mixed feelings on the latter (White is still a ways off last I heard and a black-core saber has never been gotten like this. Sure, a new color is possible, but I’m really up in the air with this), but it’s still something to keep in mind.

What do you think it could be? Considering the 8 hour maintenance next Tuesday, I’m expecting 1.4 soon so hopefully more research can go into it then. …too bad I don’t think I’ll get to do 16-man HM anytime soon (if ever), but I can hopefully just borrow some instances again. In the meantime, I’m going to research into some of the possible upcoming pets (and maybe try and get a hold of an Orobird Egg and/or the Water buff and see if I can borrow the instance again) plus some items also mentioned in the data dump (and stalk databases for possible images and more organized information) and will edit this with anything I find out.

————————————–

Edit: Random speculation:
To be honest, the first thing I think of when I heard “strange and chilling presence” is a ghost. Part of me wonders if it could be like a Force Ghost that you either need to battle for something and/or could be a bonus boss for extra gear that is only in 16-man HM.

Another idea is maybe a pet itself could trigger it. Unfortunately, I didn’t think of switching around pets while I was there πŸ™

The Lylek would usually go deep into caves. Considering what it says about it, that sure would be a chilling presence.

Flutterplume’s eat rotting flesh. Chilling indeed.

There is a giant Lobel miniboss inbetween the first and second bosses in the instance and Lobel’s like marshy lands. Maybe something with him?

The supposed Gree Larvae that was listed in the data dump has a high possibility–afterall, this Operation has a lot to do with the Gree.

Shall continue to update as I think of more stuff and/or try out things~

Edit 2: For those wondering, they did try all going in the cave at once so everyone being in may mean nothing. (I say “may” as maybe everyone needs something, but I don’t know if they’d actually go that far)

Having the Moisture/Water Buff (Frozen and not frozen) from the Vaporators does nothing. Going in with an Orobird Egg and both the Egg and Buff still needs to be tried.

Fire at the beginning of the Operation does nothing besides kill you pretty fast.

They tried some vanity pets–going to get full details on this :3

TfB is practically made inside a bunch of exhaustion zones making outside exploration hard. There is, of course, a chance it may involve an exhaustion zone in some way (Datacron on Ilum, Orobird Egg with Water Buff), but that will cost a lot of repairs to check in detail. There are quite a few enemies pretty much in exhaustion zone territory too which is a bit suspicious.

High Population Server up

Yep, as mentioned previously, the server is now up. You can find more information here and here.

Some interesting tidbits are more character slots. For example, it says I have 9/12 (I have one on Canderous Ordo due to Orochick rumors…she’s just level 7). This server does not have 1.4 so I don’t know if more character slots are coming soon or not. (Edit: Some people are reporting they have more than 12 so it may just be dependent on how many characters total.)

Right now, just East Coast servers were transferred, but it seems they will do a few of them. Characters will be deleted in a few days–probably to prepare for the next. Unfortunately, Aurorra’s and Cellina’s names were taken πŸ™ I gave Cellina a Γ― instead of an i and Aurrora ΓΊ instead of a u. I was also asked to change my Legacy name, but it still let me keep Naberrie so I think that may have just been the free change they mentioned…

Some people think they are preparing to make one giant big server. I don’t think so though…and I kind of hope not (my names T__T). Not to mention RP, PVE, and PVP issues.

Some are thinking there will just be one PVE, one PVP, and one RP (or one RP-PVE and one RP-PVP).

I think it’s just there are a lot of people who didn’t transfer and they want to make sure there is room when they do the forced transfers. But yeah… I guess we will see.

Final thoughts on Inquisitor/Warrior Storyline + Semi-final on Imperial Story as a whole

So after finishing the Inquisitor Storyline and seeing the full Warrior storyline as my boyfriend played next to me, some final thoughts… I shall start with the Warrior Storyline as my thoughts on that are a bit shorter.

One of my favorite things with it was the fact that the Knight and Warrior Storyline connected in the latter part of it. I thought that was pretty awesome. I would say the Warrior ends a bit more abrupt. After your final battle…that is it while the Sorcerer actually has a couple more scenes. One thing I noticed is that people fight you A LOT. There are several fights where you fight the person 2-3+ times before they finally admit defeat (or you have the option to kill them) which kind of reminded me of how much you get backstabbed in the Jedi Knight storyline.

Backstabbings happen quite a bit on the Imperial side though and if there’s one big thing with the Inquisitor and Warrior storylines…it is pretty obvious. I would say the only thing that came a bit surprising on the Imperial side was Quinn’s betrayal–especially if you romance him. I think a lot of people would’ve killed him though if getting rid of certain companions was still an option. (You know what would be a cool Legacy feature? Choosing the companions you want to have with you out of all the ones you get to 10K.) But yes, even if you may have thought Zash was being really nice, you were constantly being told how she’d betray you. A good twist would’ve been more if she didn’t…but she did and she ended up looking like a creepy zombie and got put into your DaShade.

Then Thanaton doesn’t even give you a chance, taking you to a tomb obviously feels like a trap, and it’s kind of obvious he wants to kill you. Ghosts turning on you, despite being nice to them, is also not too surprising. I would say the Jedi Consular storyline had a bit more shock value–with the first villain being someone you didn’t even know and the next, while I actually guessed it originally (“he always knows who has been hit! and he can get to each of them!”) it was Syo who was the ultimate bad, I was still a bit surprised when it turned out I was right.

Regardless, while the Consular’s ceremony at the end was nice, I thought the end sequences with the Inquisitor were really well done–especially when/if you help the ghosts find peace to go on to Heaven (or whatever you believe is after death!). It’s incredibly interesting and really feels like there is a lot more to come. Also, the Darth title being customized to your alignment is pretty cool too (Amidaia is Darth Imperius).

However, the Thanaton fight was pathetic. While having a zoo attack was awesome (if only I could’ve healed them T__T), Thanaton is a huge coward. He ran away. The fact that he wasn’t killed on sight at the Council… seriously. You challenge and you run? Are you kidding me?

Despite that, I did have fun and I really enjoyed the end.

Now, onto the Imperial Storyline itself. Obviously, I still have to finish up Corellia and Ilum (not to mention see the operation storylines), but I figured I’d at least mention some of my feelings. In general, there is a lot of “why can’t you choose to accept that offer”. There’s many things in that sense that pop up. Other ones are where the choice isn’t very clear–like with the Gormak–setting him free =/= letting him go with the Voss…but according to the choice, it does.

However, the really good thing about the storyline is how much it opens your eyes on just the full story of the game. I’d recommend playing an opposite faction character just for that. Voss is amazing on both sides as they have so much information. Even the stuff with the Colicoids is very interesting. Just lots of neat tidbits you really get to learn by seeing both story lines. Similarly, you see a lot of these connections between the different class storylines that also have a bunch of different things in them–not to mention even contain the answers to some holes.

…however, I will say, those connections still make me sad that the Kira thing was not connected with the Consular storyline somehow–but maybe one of the story lines will help explain exactly where it is that these take place anyway. Could be one just takes place later/after… kind of like how the Inquisitor end is obviously after the Warriors.

Anyway, in short, I enjoyed the Inquisitor storyline, despite how obvious some parts were. Warrior storyline was also pretty interesting. And my only issue with some of the Imperial Storyline stuff is still just some of the options you have πŸ˜›

Also, Khem’s ending is adorable. It’s nice how he slowly gains respect for you. Obviously, if you let Zash win (what happens if you help her), the end cutscene is different. I’m happy I let Khem win though. Not helping that backstabbing jerk. And I know Khem cares deep down <3 (And the ending cutscenes with him and his last conversation proved that enough!)

A possible Terror from Beyond drop?

Okay, so I was browsing around and had this pointed out to me:

(Screenshot credit to scifigamers)

That definitely looks like a Black-Cyan crystal to me. Since there are two color options available through EC (Black-Orange and Black-Purple), I wonder (if the Black-Cyan is true of course) if there will be another crystal and if so, what?

The crystals without a black core version are, besides the previously mentioned Cyan, Magenta and White. They are the only ones left without a black version. Heck, the White isn’t even out at all. Maybe, for all we know, it could be Black-Cyan and White. However, I believe White was mentioned to be gotten in a similar way as Magenta and still a far way off, so I’d probably put a Black-Magenta over Black-White/Normal White. It’d be neat though, wouldn’t it?

Besides that, the pink and gold armor that sentinel is wearing… I wish I knew what it was πŸ™ If you recognize it, let me know please?

Preparing for new gear

So, as we know, HM Terror from Beyond will have new gear. Apparently, according to this interview, the gear will be split between Hard Mode Terror from Beyond and Nightmare EC. I’m a bit nervous honestly. HM EC is evil enough so I’m scared about Nightmare (not that I can think of anytime I’ll ever end up getting to do it…) and I mean, HM Terror from Beyond is supposed to be pretty hard too so that scares me a bit as well. It’ll be interesting to see anyway–and at least the mount Kephess drops will be able to be gotten more then so yay.

Also looks like the January event is still going as expected.. I really need to work on my PVP then πŸ™ but PVP just makes me so sad.

Hmm…

There have been rumors that the test server may go up today. I’m kind of thinking that may be true now that the maintenance has been pushed back 5 hours later at this point.

Just have to wait and see, I suppose. But this can’t just be a normal bug fix O-o

Edit: It would go up when I finished writing this!

You can read the patch notes here. Some highlights for me:

-Items
—General
—–The event outfits (the Rakghoul Containment outfit and Sand People Bloodguard outfit) now bind to Legacy instead of binding on pickup.
^Yay~

-Legacy
—Legacy names are no longer unique. New Legacies that are created are now able to use a name that is already in use on the server. All players will be able to rename their Legacies once, at no cost, in a future update.
^Okay… I can understand why they did this, but I can see a lot of people being annoyed about it. Not to mention people who may get confused over others with the same name. However, this also means that users who disliked their Legacy Name will officially have a chance to change it soon.

So, should I keep the Legacy name, Naberrie, or change it to the one I have on the test server–Royal?

-UI
—Made minor cosmetic changes to the Character Selection and Character Creation UI.
^Always nice to see things made clearer

…This still seems kind of small considering the delays though :/

EEEEEEEE :D

So, a very awesome friend (even if he is evil sometimes) let me replace him for Nightmare Pilgrim again! T~T SO I GOT MY ARATECH CORAL! OMGYAY!

And on top of that… I won the boots! YES! So now I only need my gloves! (Though, I will have my 2-set bonus regardless of if I keep this ugly hat or get the gloves) It’ll give me the 4 set bonus then if I bother to care πŸ˜› Speaking of which, I wonder if there will be a transfer set bonus to mod thing in the Cartel Shop…

But yes, thank you guys sooooooo much T~T so happy~

Terror from Beyond

So, a new development blog is out! And about the new operation no less πŸ™‚

Interesting Points and Speculation:
-Clearer picture of final boss and players on platforms. Curious how this will work. Feeling bad for Melee players though.
-Asation is the planet we shall be going to :3
-5 Bosses.
-I’m guessing the Puzzle is where you see players in various colors. Just seen too many things where people go into some kind of computer matrix thing and are a single color πŸ˜›
-I’m guessing one of the bosses (or maybe a mini-boss) is a boss from a previous instance due to the “In addition to strange creatures and agents of the Dread Masters, players will run into a familiar face on Asation. No spoilers, but here’s a hint: he’s not going to be very happy to see you.” Would go with Kephess as he appears in the ending cutscene after EC. My only other idea with be Malgus (no real proof over if he died or not), but I do not see him working with the Dread Masters, honestly, so I’ll just stick with Kephess as it makes the most sense considering plot line and all πŸ˜›
-Gauntlet-Style on the final Boss. Not sure if it means you’ll have to run while being attacked until you are in position to fight or if you will be fighting mobs up until you get to where you fight the boss. Either way, should be interesting.
-Based a lot on execution of Mechanics.
-New set of PVE Gear
-“The hard difficulty mode for Terror From Beyond is balanced for players wearing a full set of Campaign gear, which can be acquired from Operation: Explosive Conflict. Augments will become increasingly more important the deeper you get into Terror from Beyond.” Hopefully the fact that I lack the hilt still won’t make a big deal πŸ™ …on the otherhand, I doubt I’ll get to do it much anyway ._.

Looking forward to maybe trying it with some people on the Test Server at least. I just hope they’ll let people download the Test Server a bit beforehand. My computer has it, but I have been playing on my Laptop more recently (as my computer needs new parts) and sadly, the Test Server went down before I got the chance to download it on here too πŸ™ But yeah, would like to download ahead of time so I can patch it and get on ASAP.

Edit: Story Mode confirmed to drop Rakata stuff. Kind of reminds me of how different Normal and HM Lost Island are.

Rumors + Other Servers

So, the Wonderous/Wondrous Egg search has continued, unsurprisingly. As usual, most people are just kind of trolling or mixing the eggs up…or pointing to things that lack proof to begin with.

A Reddit Page was recently made to try and figure out more about it. There are two answers that could end up being helpful, but of course, one already ended as soon as it started and the other is pretty iffy too.

For now, I did make a Republic character on Canderous Ordo and got her to level 7. Tempted to do the same on the Imperial side, but doing it on one side was annoying enough and…well, both Hutta and Korriban aren’t much fun πŸ™ Upon asking, I did not receive any information and there is not one currently on the GTN so… for now, just will try and stay hopeful.

However, I will say…asking doesn’t mean someone is lazy. Theories and ideas can be thought up through questions and confirmations…well, the more people trying, the quicker a confirmation can happen and more confirmations are always welcomed, right? Just… never think because someone is asking, they’re not trying anything themselves. That is just silly.

To-do List for 1.4?

While whether 1.4 is a full thing or not, it has been more or less confirmed by various interviews that Terror From Beyond will be out in September. Which means if they do put it on the Public Test Server (I’d think so, but who knows), it’ll probably be sometime soon.

Considering I have yet to actually get any kind of To-Do List completed 100%, I expect this to also be a failure (which actually makes me incredibly upset), but I figured I’d at least try and make this get all set up along with an average of about how much each will cost…if anything.
