Pets get Complicated

Remember that old F.A.Q. Question? Well, it’s back up.

In addition to the Cartel Coins, each of our retail partners offer an exclusive mini-pet that will be added to your account when you redeem your Cartel Coins Card here on this website.
The currently available pets are:

BestBuy: Arctic Manka Lynx – Renowned for its speed and grace, this Arctic Manka Lynx will loyally follow you on your adventures across the galaxy.
GameStop: Lobelode – The Lobelode is hardy and persistent, at home in even the most dangerous and exotic environments you could visit.
EU Retailers: Forest Nekarr Cat – Known for its agility and viciousness, the Forest Nekarr Cat will loyally explore the galaxy with you.

The one in bold is the newest edition–the pet that has only started popping up recently. The question now is if they are still from space pirate packs or if this is really where they were from all along. 🙁

Also, the Gree Event is returning tomorrow so for those who were good and don’t suck like me, you should be able to get more stuff!

IMPORTANT: Cartel Coin Cards with Pets may not be available

At least right now. I ended up receiving an e-mail (from the awesome Eric Musco) about it and it turns out that is still being finalized!

It turns out, that knowledge base question went live on the site in error. The information contained in it, isn’t actually correct. What I know right now is that our information regarding retailers, Cartel Coins, and any additional promotions isn’t actually confirmed yet.

The question IS being removed from the site (and thus, I will be updating the pet guides and whatnot accordingly). When it IS finalized and confirmed, they will be properly announcing this so for now, let’s just keep on the look-out!

On the brightside, we don’t have to stalk Gamestop and Best Buy just yet 😛

Pets and Cards

EDIT:

THIS IS A MISTAKE. PLEASE READ HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION.

First, thanks to Kalreth and Telanis for the heads up 🙂 I only got home now so yeah XD

So, according to this lovely support question thingy… well:

In addition to the Cartel Coins, each of our retail partners will offer an exclusive mini-pet that will be added to your account when you redeem your Cartel Coins Card here on this website.

We hope to make Cartel Coin Cards available for purchase through more retailers and in more territories soon. Please visit www.StarWarsTheOldRepublic.com for updates.

Yep, that means BestBuy and GameStop will have special cards with the pets. From what it sounds like, they will be $20 cards so yeah. I haven’t seen any yet and there aren’t any on their websites, but I will be keeping an eye out and at the very least, update the pet guide.

I’m expecting the cards to start popping up closer to Christmas, but I’m sure some people will get them early.

Follow-ups

So, we have a few follow-ups to things…

1. The Cave – It totally slipped my mind to make a post besides just updating the cave post. I will continue to just put theories there, but for those who have missed it, a new clue was released:

Martin_smith: I wouldn’t worry about it right now
Martin_smith: read the words

This obviously brings up a few issues. Exactly what is being referred to with the second sentence–the red text itself (“You feel a strange and chilling presence.”) or the first thing he said?

Secondly, the first part alone… This could mean:
A. It’s something not in game right now
and/or
B. Just something that can’t be done right away

I’m going to quote one of my comments real quick in reference to B:

Another idea is just that it requires multiple people to have something so you wouldn’t be able to do it right away. Kind of furthers my wondering over the first high drop rate pet as you’d only be able to get 1 a week so it would be 16 weeks (4 months) of completing HM TfB before everyone would have one.

…that’d be so cruel though.

As Telanis pointed out, technically 16 people could just go in after and then, if 16 people finished, and it was a locked out instance, yes, any 16 can go. On the otherhand, if it wasn’t, you’d need to have a group together for that first boss and the mobs on the way to the second boss.

Going on to the next follow-ups… The Wonderous Egg and Lobelode from a Dev:

To the Lobelode and the Wonderous Egg, the answer is that these two pets are not yet distributed in-game. I think this may have been a case of the community getting mis-informed by data mining.

I responded back with my concerns on the Wonderous Egg and why I had asked (The Lobelode doesn’t surprise me much, but it is nice to have that confirmed) and he asked for some links where I had been told about the Wonderous Egg and seen the information. Hoping for a response back as that is something he will definitely try and get more information on as it’s a very…odd situation.

Regardless, hopefully this means the fully confirmed answers aren’t far off and we’ll know soon. I will be moving the Lobelode off the Pet List for now.

and to end this, I wish I had 900K-1.2 million to get some Adept Enhancement 27’s 🙁

To-do List for 1.4?

While whether 1.4 is a full thing or not, it has been more or less confirmed by various interviews that Terror From Beyond will be out in September. Which means if they do put it on the Public Test Server (I’d think so, but who knows), it’ll probably be sometime soon.

Considering I have yet to actually get any kind of To-Do List completed 100%, I expect this to also be a failure (which actually makes me incredibly upset), but I figured I’d at least try and make this get all set up along with an average of about how much each will cost…if anything.

The Grand Acquisitions Race Follow-up :)

With the event ended technically tonight when the game goes down for maintenance/patching, I figured I’d post some stuff about it 😀 Before I do, I will just say I ended up buying the Automatic Bowcaster for Cellina. I noticed it wasn’t actually shown on her post about the event so I looked it up and it is awesome and totally fits her so I bought it and yeah 😛 I also got my BH Commendations for my Hat so just 1 Advanced Mettle Mod 26, 2 Advanced Quick Savant Enhancement 26, 1 Advanced Resolve Hilt 26, and 2 Advanced Resolve Armoring 26 to go. (Which I can now afford–just need the stupid Grade 8 stuff — And thanks to a very nice friend, got the money to buy from Elidibs so yay T~T Thank you! So, stuff sent off. Gonna see if my boyfriend can lend me 100K-200K so I won’t be completely poor)

Overall, I liked it. I love events though and even enjoyed the Rakghoul event despite zombies and creepiness. However, I will say it felt like there was more effort put into the latter. With all the codexes telling the story, so much to do, and many more dialogue options (sure, you didn’t speak for this event and it made sense not to but…) and things, it felt a bit more fulfilling in that sense.

Regardless, this event was still interesting and while I can’t speak for other servers, at least on Corellian Run, most people were nice, polite, and helpful. I mean, we had organized lines on both factions. That isn’t to say there were no jerks–like I said, most people were nice, but not everyone. I did have one guy race ahead and take my box v-v;

I thought there were quite a bit of fun things as well which was nice. One thing I kind of wish they did was make it so during the event, players would have to go to another’s capital city for some of the items. It could’ve been a safe zone or something and I think that would’ve been a neat effect. I would probably say the biggest different between the Imperial and Republic side would be the puzzle for the Collected Writings of Tiethiagg. The Republic just had you match all 5 terminals (which you just clicked until it was the color you wanted) to the specific color for each circle according to the diagram on the floor. The Imperial’s had you turning mirrors and a laser gun to fire a laser to reflect off the mirrors to hit the crate to open it. It wasn’t hard (very limited moving needed to be done), but it actually took a bit more thought, in my opinion, to do. Of course, I was waiting almost 10 minutes for someone to finish to Republic Puzzle the first time I did it…

The only other big difference was the fight during the introduction quest. The Republic had you kill the droid first while the Imperial had you hit these glowy blue things in front of the guy to get their shields down. Besides the obvious change of locations, there was no difference in mechanics or what you needed to do. Well, maybe slightly with the Plasma-Sealed Jar–for the Republic you just went off those edge-platforms with no barrier (most usually have a taxi a little bit away from them–but there are a few that are empty) and for the Imperial you went up a ramp to get over the barrier. I found the Republic’s more surprising, but that’s just me.

My only real complaint about the event was how hard they made it to get everything. You could earn, at minimum, 105 Tokens if you did all the quests. That is it. Any other tokens would only be if you didn’t get all 6 parts for Vandrayk’s Tuning Apparatus on the first shot (which is rare, but happened–most people could at least get 4-5 easily and the 6th within about 20-30 boxes). The total for actually getting all the items sold by the Vendor is 811. Of course, if you did get lucky and got a pet from one of the crates, it’d only be 561…but that is still over 400 more than what you’d get from doing the quests. None are repeatable, the crates have a 10 minute spawn rate (and have a few difference places each crate can spawn so there’s no guarantee it’ll spawn in the same spot), and you have competition from:
1. People who need the Vandrayk’s Tuning Apparatus parts.
2. People who also want tokens.
3. People looking for the pet.
4. People who are looking to sell them.

That’s…just a huge pain and I feel incredibly sorry for anyone on a PVP server. At least you can open the boxes while being attacked or in-combat, but still. I mean, if you have all your character slots full, if you did the event on each, you’d have enough…but I had a hard enough time doing it on 2 😛

I know a lot of people also complained about the rewards, but I think pretty much all the complaints are silly. If there’s nothing you like, well, good for you? The prizes will probably always fit the event–simple as that. We had crystals for the last event (which, while all classes use, is not as big of a deal for non-Jedi/Sith classes) so… besides that, it was just infected skins (which I thought were horrifying and I hate every time I run into someone using one) for Companions and a pet (at a much more reasonable price). I believe the main issue there was with those said skins as:
1. They were Bound
2. It was random which you got (so you could get one for a class you don’t even expect to ever play)

Going back to the Grand Acquisitions Event, let us go over the prizes:
1. The Bowcasters – We’re doing an event on Nar Shaddaa with things like Smuggler’s Crates and shootouts. I’m sorry, but weapons that are gun-related just make sense. I think my only issue is how few companions use Sniper Rifles (and few specs in general) and I think those are some of the nicer ones. Some of the Blaster Rifle ones are okay too, but not as many there.
2. The Sand People Outfit – Nobody actually really had an issue with this one too much. Not too badly priced and will be Bind to Legacy sometime soon. To be honest though, this seemed more fitting for the Rakghoul Event in my opinion, but it was a nice item to see and a lot of people I’ve seen picked up at least parts of it.
3. Sparkle Powder – I’m guessing this is more of a “if you want to spend your tokens but have nothing else you want” thing, but it’s still cute and people do enjoy having fun with Sparkle Powder. They did mention Sparkle Powder coming out in various colors so it was nice to see it…I just hope it comes in a more permanent way.
4. Hyrotii Scrapper – This probably has a bigger hate than the Bowcasters do. This is because it is 90% like most Rank 1 Speeders over the 110% that Rank 3 Speeders have. People said this wasn’t fair to those who were 50 and no longer leveling to have to get a “low level” speeder. The stupidity in this is that the point of the speeder is for it’s look and effects. It is a broken down, crooked speeder. It sounds like it has fireworks going off, there’s sparks from the motor, electricity sparking under it, a light that is out and smoking which thus, leaves a smoke trail as you drive around. It makes sense that it only goes 90%. It has a neat effect and looks cool and if you enjoyed the speeder from the Jar item quest, well, this is the same one (just 40% faster). I could see this being more popular with RP servers, but I’ve seen a few people (My boyfriend included) who really want this speeder for certain characters as they’d find it fitting. (Unfortunately, my boyfriend will most likely not get one as it is bound and there is no way I can get 1.5 million to make my trooper and get both her and his smuggler to their ships to go to Nar Shaddaa for the Event. Which I feel quite bad about, honestly.
5. Lobelot – I will say it is way overpriced. I am guessing the price is due to the fact that it is possible to get it from boxes, but it is still kind of ridiculous. Most people say it is ugly which fine, whatever, your taste and all ( find all pets cute though) but saying it doesn’t fit is kind of silly. I will just link to this for more information. Also stuff on the Akk Dogs. However, the #1 argument, once people realize or remember there is also a Lobel pet (The Lobelisk) sold by the PVP Items Vendor is that the pet is “just a recolor” in which I kind of just…want to slap them. Most of the pets are recolors. While some of the newer pets (1.2 onward) have individual sounds, what they do is the same per species. There are very few that do anything different or are unique. So, I’m just going to go over it real quick:
—-1. Raklings: All 3 are just recolors. They roar, pace back and forth, and jump twice. They all run with their arms and feet.
—-2. Akk Dogs: All 3 are just recolors. They scratch their face with their left paw, look side to side, roar, and put their head down to the floor (almost as if they were going to eat). However, each one makes a different sound.
—-3. Hutt Observer – The only completely unique pet. The middle of it constantly spins and it looks from left to right. Also hovers up and down.
—-4. Interrogation Droid and The Czerka Eye – Two of the semi-unique pets. They share the same round body with a few changes. They both hover up and Down and look left to right. Interrogation Droid pulls in and sticks back out its long stick…thing that is at the bottom of it and spins it when out. The Czerka Eye Spins it’s long antenna like-thing at the back of it’s head that sticks up.
—-5. Little Sandcrawler and Mouse Droid – Two of the semi-unique pets. Both Little Sandcrawler and Mouse Droid have the same form in a sense, but the top decorations are different (and of course, they are different colors). Bot have the 3 little thingys at the back, but Little Sandcrawler has 3 tall thingys in front of those and then in the little top circle, a block with two sticks coming out of it. Mouse Droid, however, has a blank indented space where Little Sandcrawler’s 3 Tall thingys are and in the circle, a round thing that kind of looks like a camera. It also has a thing that looks kind of like one of those Wind Energy thingys that spins to the left of the circle. Both spin.
—-6. Lobels – All 3 are recolors (though, only 2 can be gotten right now). They lean forward and look back and forth. However, each one makes a different sound.
—-7. Minimechs – Both are recolors. They both spin and the thingys on the top of them go up and down.
—-8. Orobirds – All 3 are recolors (Though, Wonderous Egg/Orochick is still a mystery). They look side to side and open their mouth. Each one makes a different sound.
—-9. Tauntauns – 4 of them are just recolors. The only one not just a recolor is Tauntaun Ram who has two large horns and a backpack. It is the same model otherwise though. They slide their foot across the ground, open their mouth, and look side to side. Each one makes a different sound.

Sure, some of the sounds are similar and/or use some parts from others, but all are unique overall. I went and recorded them here. So, yes, out of the 23 confirmed pets (not counting the Lobelode since it has not been confirmed to be out), 17 of them are just recolors. And personally, I love them all the same~

Besides that, there are rumors going around about something special happening tomorrow for those who completed the event. Good thing I am still on Nar Shaddaa…unless it’ll be on Coruscant. Not I’m panicking. I remember seeing this on Tumblr, but I never got one on Amidaia…and I never got a Republic version. Regardless, I hope that’s not an issue and I’m not sure how to feel just yet.

Researching, Boxes, Info, Answers, Gear

As usual, I will probably ignore the order of my header and get to each part as I feel like it 😛 When it comes to pets, I will always have a lot to say and will probably end up answering with more than you even cared to know.

I was hoping to do a lot of Research today. Maybe try running Lost Island normal to see if any pets dropped, maybe try running around places in search of a Lobelode, more box hunting, more Orochick theories… in the end, I didn’t do much of any of it. I ended up noticing I was very close to getting another War Hero Relic of Boundless Ages so I decided to bite the bullet and go ahead and do so realizing regardless of whether I went with the slightly less crit chance or not, it was still an increase to healing regardless.

From there, I decided to work on getting Black Hole Commendations and I managed to get…very interesting groups. A lot of first timers each time and so things didn’t exactly go flawlessly, but at least one ended well. (Second the new people gave up, but Elidibs went and took me to finish it up…third, I had to go…and then Stoic dragged me off to KP NM–thankfully, my boyfriend got to go too so now he has the codexes and title :3)

I am now 2 BH Commendations short from getting my hat and hopefully a Mettle Mod 26 with it too. Hopefully I can do Corellia/Black Hole later. I wanted to do it now, but after more craziness, it just too late and I’m exhausted. As for what craziness, I was then dragged to PVP while also helping people do the event 😛 was very interesting.

Regardless, that will leave me with 1 Advanced Mettle Mod 26, 2 Advanced Quick Savant Enhancement 26, 1 Advanced Resolve Hilt 26, and 2 Advanced Resolve Armoring 26 to go.

I actually only need 100K more for the Armoring… but I, of course, need to buy the Grade 8 Materials which is an extra 300K-800K credits v-v; just…so frustrated about it.

Also, just really want to make my Trooper already. Seriously, the hold slot is really starting to bug me. Why must just extra colors be 1.5 million? T__T whhhhy.

Moving on, the mod and enhancements are still like 500K each on average. The Hilt, however, will have to be gotten from HM EC (from Kephess) which I am not looking forward to. Similarly, I do still need at least one more Campaign armoring piece for the 2-piece set bonus back (which while I don’t need, is at least helpful). I need either the Gloves (Mine guy) or the Boots (Nightmare Pilgrim) so hopefully I can get that all taken care of soon.

The next operation is supposedly the next update so it may be silly to be working so hard when the gear will be outdated shortly. But I just want to be done and prepared before the update. Similarly, I want all my characters made properly and ready to go (and I just have Zoara waiting for the 1.5 million to do that).

I just…hate making lists longer. I still have stuff from the first Legacy update I need and I just feel I’m getting further and further behind and it’s making me depressed .__.

finally, since people are asking about the Password protected stuff…they are, more often than not, little backstory writing things about my characters (or in actual character) and made-up stories. While I don’t mind people reading my thoughts (even if I will never understand why), I’m pretty shy with my story-writing so those will always be super-secret-private and whatnot. …I don’t think anyone really minds/cares anyway.

LOBELOT GOTTEN! + 1.4

Unfortunately, I had no luck getting Lobelot from the crates. I ended up just buying it when I got close to 400 because not only could I afford it–but everything else I wanted too. I’m debating on the gun-bow-things, but I’d probably just give them to a companion.

But yes, the lovely Lobelot:

Moving on, 1.4 is scheduled for next month. I’m…kind of mixed–only because of all the EC HM drama and I feel kind of behind 🙁 Also a video of them showing off some stuff.

PET ALERT

So besides the Lobelot, apparently a rumor is going around that you have a rare chance of getting a pet from the Smuggler’s Crate?!

So far, it seems the Lobelot itself can be (which may be why it is so expensive) found in the Smuggler’s Crate. Will keep an eye out incase there are other pets too, but at the very least, definitely important to know (and makes crate hunting more urgent!).

Shall update with any updated crate pet info~

Event begins! + Some Coverage

Looks like it started at midnight. Which means I’m 7 hours late. Well, I’m regretting going to bed early for once. In fact, it started 5 minutes after I finally managed to get to bed. I feel like an idiot. and really upset.

Anyway, my boyfriend told me to scope it out for now (I’ll probably just do it on Marilea–will do it with Amidaia with him) and call him at noon. I’m trying to concentrate on “EVENT”, but I just feel stupid for not at least waiting until midnight. I was just so tired (I didn’t sleep the night before…got some, though not much, sleep last night).

Anyway, I’ll update this with various event stuff. Trying to be excited, but so stressed 🙁

Edit 1: Reasons why I don’t like to start events late: So much info to sift through to try and figure out what the heck you’re supposed to do.

Edit 2: LOBELOT. Called it. That also leaves one Lobel and one Akk Dog left (hmm…curious). Lobel costs 250 Tokens of Enrichment X__x Most expensive item. There is also a Speeder, the Hyrotii Scrapper, which costs 120 Tokens of Enrichment…and Red Sparkle Power for 1 Token of Enrichment. Of course, there’s other stuff too, but this is all I care about.

Looks like I’m saving up at least 372 Tokens. (the extra one is to keep)

Edit 3: If there’s one thing I noticed, Republic guides are near non-existent which is kind of frustrating, so I decided to make some quick notes for when I show my boyfriend around:

NAR SHADDAA:

Fossilized Krayt Dragon Pearl:
Red Light Sector. Head to the left at the first fork and you’ll see a giant crate. Head right at the next fork and then just continue along to the terminals. Once you have all 3 buffs, head back to the thingy and click the second to last one.

Vandrayk’s Tuning Apparatus:
Boxes. So many boxes. I find the best places to be the Nikto Sector and the Atrium’s with the Imperial warehouse and whanot.

Rakata Utensils:
1644,2976 – Network Security District. This crate thing. Can’t miss it. Then follow around (based off cutscenes) and click green thingys. Then kick his butt.

Anyway, heading to Coruscant now :3 Will continue to update.

Edit 4: You should’ve noticed you had a mail by now with an item. Use the item to get a quest that sends you to a Cantina you may remember some quests in. There will be a little holo terminal on a table for you to use.

It does guide you along so you are good to go.

One frustrating thing with Coruscant is only one group can go at a time for all of these quests.

Perserved Colicoid Queen Egg:
Heading down from the Cantina, you want to head towards X:2578, Y:1430 where there is a Broken Smuggler Crate. Clicking it will spawn waves of enemies. Once you kill the final guy, he will drop the egg.

Collected Writings of Tiethiagg:
You’ll be heading to the Black Sun Territory towards the apartment to get to the Silent Sun Cantina. You will see a dead guy with some lights behind him and a glowly datapad. Click the datapad to start the quest. If the datapad says your escort is waiting, someone else is doing the quest right now. If you successfully click it, you will be told to solve the Cantina puzzle. To your right are 5 terminals. You need to match them to the template–so the inner circle (smallest) is yellow, middle (medium) is pink, and outer (largest) is green. Make all the terminals for each circle those specific colors (So you start with the small–thus you want all the terminals to be yellow) to move on to the next round. Very simple. When finished, the Secure Crate unlocks and you can grab the Writings from it.

Shard of Harterra:
Head to Justicar Territory and go to X:844, Y: 4607. There is a Smuggler Crate and a turret gun. Click the crate, mobs are spawning and get on the gun and relive memories of Kaon and Colicoid War Games. When you kill everything and the crate becomes blue and shiny again–click it for the shard.

Now, heading to the Senate Tower to finish up the original quest mentioned (Dubious Motives). Anyway, there are markers so… When you get over there, click the Glowing Phone Booth in the distance, then plant the listening device where the 3 were. Then, head to talk to the SIS agent….or well, another secure holoterminal. He will send you back to Nar Shaddaa…of course, some people did Coruscant first.

Like before with this quest, it does direct you where to go. This causes a battle to start and I strongly recommend paying attention as it can take a lot of damage. You should definitely do this with someone (and if neither of are healers…have at least a healing companion out). Also around this time, you should’ve received another mail which will lead you back to Coruscant for the Akar Kesh Meditation Mask. We’ll get to that.

Anyway, head to the Casino. Once the step changes, go up the ramp to your right and around to where the quest marker is. You will see a switch. Click it and then jump on the grate and position yourself EXACTLY in the green circle. Then watch and enjoy the scene out of Sonic the Hedgehog. Be sure to click the Secure Access Panel to finish the quest and then hit the hatch to get back down 🙂

Edit 4: Now, I said we’d get back to the mask, didn’t I? Unfortunately, at this point, you should have another mail sending you to the Lower Promenade about the Black-and-Orange Sphere and since we’re still on Nar Shaddaa, we will do that first!

Head over to where you saw the Droid talking to the Hutt. He had a quest marker long before, but now you can actually do the quest…but he still tells you to check back later. There is a high chance you can’t do this until tomorrow.

At around this time, you should’ve received another mail telling you to go to Shadow Town because of the Plasma-Sealed Jar. Anyway, like with the Hutt, you will be told the Droid is busy and not finished so to check back later.

So, let’s go to Coruscant now for the Mask as previously mentioned (though, I’m guessing this will also be a come back later thing)… Time to head to the Works. The cruel cruel Works 🙁 Anyway, as expected, you are told to come back later.

And for now, that is all you can do. I’m going to go stalk for crates again on Nar Shaddaa now (at least until I get too tired to stay awake–not feeling well to begin with and the fire alarm at the hotel went off :/). I’m guessing they will either be able to be done tomorrow (or maybe even just one tomorrow to spread them out) or done this evening/at midnight.

I don’t see how any of these quests can be repeatable though so I’m not sure how earning so many tokens will work (especially as you need quite a lot more this event). Unless they need more of them I guess? But some of these *coughcrateonecough* are pretty annoying. And I don’t even know how there’d be multiples of some of these items. Not to mention the whole thing with the Bounty Hunter guy you have to kill. I do think it makes more sense if they’re not repeatable though–so maybe just the quests related to the SIS Agent (or whoever with the Imperial one) will give quite a large amount? Or something. I just don’t think making the item getting quests repeatable makes a whole lot of sense with a Scavenger Hunt like this.

Anyway, I haven’t decided yet who I will give the items to (and part of me thinks maybe it will be repeatable so you can get both titles…but it may just be a lightside/darkside thing) so I guess I’ll just have to see. Or maybe the titles won’t even be there…or at the very least, the titles aren’t considered event codexes. I wonder what the codexes are.

oh, and Dulfy has an Imperial Guide up so… (and apparently a Republic one now too). Not that this was really meant to be a guide anyway–just for me to keep track of it all…like everything else in this blog. 😛

oh, and if you’re on Corellian Run and don’t want your Tokens of Enrichment, think of me? >>
