Orochick vs. Orokeet + Taunlet

Well, I was asked to remake the Vanity Guide that had been on the forums as the old maker hadn’t updated in a long time and didn’t seem to be playing anymore (last logged in early July).

However, this got me to thinking about how much people tried to figure out how to hatch Orokeet and find Taunlet. What made Taunlet difficult is even though people guessed the hint right away (2 planets–Hoth and Alderaan), people were still questioning due to Jerky not being very obtainable for most.

Everything had become a clue, people even tried looking off planet and eventually, it was figured out.

With the Orokeet, the egg was found easily enough, but hatching it had been the issue. People tried throwing themselves into lava pits, running in exhaustion zones, and etc. until they found it. Eventually, it was also figured out with some creative hinting and playing around with buffs.

I honestly don’t think the Orochick is an Exploration pet (though, those are my favorites so I certainly wouldn’t mind if it was), but I miss those hints they gave. Of course, that person doesn’t work there anymore and none of the others seem to want to offer any little tidbits for Pets.

Even just a “That’s not true” or “You’re on the right track” would be amazing. 🙁

With the event ended technically tonight when the game goes down for maintenance/patching, I figured I’d post some stuff about it 😀 Before I do, I will just say I ended up buying the Automatic Bowcaster for Cellina. I noticed it wasn’t actually shown on her post about the event so I looked it up and it is awesome and totally fits her so I bought it and yeah 😛 I also got my BH Commendations for my Hat so just 1 Advanced Mettle Mod 26, 2 Advanced Quick Savant Enhancement 26, 1 Advanced Resolve Hilt 26, and 2 Advanced Resolve Armoring 26 to go. (Which I can now afford–just need the stupid Grade 8 stuff — And thanks to a very nice friend, got the money to buy from Elidibs so yay T~T Thank you! So, stuff sent off. Gonna see if my boyfriend can lend me 100K-200K so I won’t be completely poor)

Overall, I liked it. I love events though and even enjoyed the Rakghoul event despite zombies and creepiness. However, I will say it felt like there was more effort put into the latter. With all the codexes telling the story, so much to do, and many more dialogue options (sure, you didn’t speak for this event and it made sense not to but…) and things, it felt a bit more fulfilling in that sense.

Regardless, this event was still interesting and while I can’t speak for other servers, at least on Corellian Run, most people were nice, polite, and helpful. I mean, we had organized lines on both factions. That isn’t to say there were no jerks–like I said, most people were nice, but not everyone. I did have one guy race ahead and take my box v-v;

I thought there were quite a bit of fun things as well which was nice. One thing I kind of wish they did was make it so during the event, players would have to go to another’s capital city for some of the items. It could’ve been a safe zone or something and I think that would’ve been a neat effect. I would probably say the biggest different between the Imperial and Republic side would be the puzzle for the Collected Writings of Tiethiagg. The Republic just had you match all 5 terminals (which you just clicked until it was the color you wanted) to the specific color for each circle according to the diagram on the floor. The Imperial’s had you turning mirrors and a laser gun to fire a laser to reflect off the mirrors to hit the crate to open it. It wasn’t hard (very limited moving needed to be done), but it actually took a bit more thought, in my opinion, to do. Of course, I was waiting almost 10 minutes for someone to finish to Republic Puzzle the first time I did it…

The only other big difference was the fight during the introduction quest. The Republic had you kill the droid first while the Imperial had you hit these glowy blue things in front of the guy to get their shields down. Besides the obvious change of locations, there was no difference in mechanics or what you needed to do. Well, maybe slightly with the Plasma-Sealed Jar–for the Republic you just went off those edge-platforms with no barrier (most usually have a taxi a little bit away from them–but there are a few that are empty) and for the Imperial you went up a ramp to get over the barrier. I found the Republic’s more surprising, but that’s just me.

My only real complaint about the event was how hard they made it to get everything. You could earn, at minimum, 105 Tokens if you did all the quests. That is it. Any other tokens would only be if you didn’t get all 6 parts for Vandrayk’s Tuning Apparatus on the first shot (which is rare, but happened–most people could at least get 4-5 easily and the 6th within about 20-30 boxes). The total for actually getting all the items sold by the Vendor is 811. Of course, if you did get lucky and got a pet from one of the crates, it’d only be 561…but that is still over 400 more than what you’d get from doing the quests. None are repeatable, the crates have a 10 minute spawn rate (and have a few difference places each crate can spawn so there’s no guarantee it’ll spawn in the same spot), and you have competition from:
1. People who need the Vandrayk’s Tuning Apparatus parts.
2. People who also want tokens.
3. People looking for the pet.
4. People who are looking to sell them.

That’s…just a huge pain and I feel incredibly sorry for anyone on a PVP server. At least you can open the boxes while being attacked or in-combat, but still. I mean, if you have all your character slots full, if you did the event on each, you’d have enough…but I had a hard enough time doing it on 2 😛

I know a lot of people also complained about the rewards, but I think pretty much all the complaints are silly. If there’s nothing you like, well, good for you? The prizes will probably always fit the event–simple as that. We had crystals for the last event (which, while all classes use, is not as big of a deal for non-Jedi/Sith classes) so… besides that, it was just infected skins (which I thought were horrifying and I hate every time I run into someone using one) for Companions and a pet (at a much more reasonable price). I believe the main issue there was with those said skins as:
1. They were Bound
2. It was random which you got (so you could get one for a class you don’t even expect to ever play)

Going back to the Grand Acquisitions Event, let us go over the prizes:
1. The Bowcasters – We’re doing an event on Nar Shaddaa with things like Smuggler’s Crates and shootouts. I’m sorry, but weapons that are gun-related just make sense. I think my only issue is how few companions use Sniper Rifles (and few specs in general) and I think those are some of the nicer ones. Some of the Blaster Rifle ones are okay too, but not as many there.
2. The Sand People Outfit – Nobody actually really had an issue with this one too much. Not too badly priced and will be Bind to Legacy sometime soon. To be honest though, this seemed more fitting for the Rakghoul Event in my opinion, but it was a nice item to see and a lot of people I’ve seen picked up at least parts of it.
3. Sparkle Powder – I’m guessing this is more of a “if you want to spend your tokens but have nothing else you want” thing, but it’s still cute and people do enjoy having fun with Sparkle Powder. They did mention Sparkle Powder coming out in various colors so it was nice to see it…I just hope it comes in a more permanent way.
4. Hyrotii Scrapper – This probably has a bigger hate than the Bowcasters do. This is because it is 90% like most Rank 1 Speeders over the 110% that Rank 3 Speeders have. People said this wasn’t fair to those who were 50 and no longer leveling to have to get a “low level” speeder. The stupidity in this is that the point of the speeder is for it’s look and effects. It is a broken down, crooked speeder. It sounds like it has fireworks going off, there’s sparks from the motor, electricity sparking under it, a light that is out and smoking which thus, leaves a smoke trail as you drive around. It makes sense that it only goes 90%. It has a neat effect and looks cool and if you enjoyed the speeder from the Jar item quest, well, this is the same one (just 40% faster). I could see this being more popular with RP servers, but I’ve seen a few people (My boyfriend included) who really want this speeder for certain characters as they’d find it fitting. (Unfortunately, my boyfriend will most likely not get one as it is bound and there is no way I can get 1.5 million to make my trooper and get both her and his smuggler to their ships to go to Nar Shaddaa for the Event. Which I feel quite bad about, honestly.
5. Lobelot – I will say it is way overpriced. I am guessing the price is due to the fact that it is possible to get it from boxes, but it is still kind of ridiculous. Most people say it is ugly which fine, whatever, your taste and all ( find all pets cute though) but saying it doesn’t fit is kind of silly. I will just link to this for more information. Also stuff on the Akk Dogs. However, the #1 argument, once people realize or remember there is also a Lobel pet (The Lobelisk) sold by the PVP Items Vendor is that the pet is “just a recolor” in which I kind of just…want to slap them. Most of the pets are recolors. While some of the newer pets (1.2 onward) have individual sounds, what they do is the same per species. There are very few that do anything different or are unique. So, I’m just going to go over it real quick:
—-1. Raklings: All 3 are just recolors. They roar, pace back and forth, and jump twice. They all run with their arms and feet.
—-2. Akk Dogs: All 3 are just recolors. They scratch their face with their left paw, look side to side, roar, and put their head down to the floor (almost as if they were going to eat). However, each one makes a different sound.
—-3. Hutt Observer – The only completely unique pet. The middle of it constantly spins and it looks from left to right. Also hovers up and down.
—-4. Interrogation Droid and The Czerka Eye – Two of the semi-unique pets. They share the same round body with a few changes. They both hover up and Down and look left to right. Interrogation Droid pulls in and sticks back out its long stick…thing that is at the bottom of it and spins it when out. The Czerka Eye Spins it’s long antenna like-thing at the back of it’s head that sticks up.
—-5. Little Sandcrawler and Mouse Droid – Two of the semi-unique pets. Both Little Sandcrawler and Mouse Droid have the same form in a sense, but the top decorations are different (and of course, they are different colors). Bot have the 3 little thingys at the back, but Little Sandcrawler has 3 tall thingys in front of those and then in the little top circle, a block with two sticks coming out of it. Mouse Droid, however, has a blank indented space where Little Sandcrawler’s 3 Tall thingys are and in the circle, a round thing that kind of looks like a camera. It also has a thing that looks kind of like one of those Wind Energy thingys that spins to the left of the circle. Both spin.
—-6. Lobels – All 3 are recolors (though, only 2 can be gotten right now). They lean forward and look back and forth. However, each one makes a different sound.
—-7. Minimechs – Both are recolors. They both spin and the thingys on the top of them go up and down.
—-8. Orobirds – All 3 are recolors (Though, Wonderous Egg/Orochick is still a mystery). They look side to side and open their mouth. Each one makes a different sound.
—-9. Tauntauns – 4 of them are just recolors. The only one not just a recolor is Tauntaun Ram who has two large horns and a backpack. It is the same model otherwise though. They slide their foot across the ground, open their mouth, and look side to side. Each one makes a different sound.

Sure, some of the sounds are similar and/or use some parts from others, but all are unique overall. I went and recorded them here. So, yes, out of the 23 confirmed pets (not counting the Lobelode since it has not been confirmed to be out), 17 of them are just recolors. And personally, I love them all the same~

Besides that, there are rumors going around about something special happening tomorrow for those who completed the event. Good thing I am still on Nar Shaddaa…unless it’ll be on Coruscant. Not I’m panicking. I remember seeing this on Tumblr, but I never got one on Amidaia…and I never got a Republic version. Regardless, I hope that’s not an issue and I’m not sure how to feel just yet.

Upcoming Events and talking about Pets (Speculation)

Now, most people don’t realize I have no issues with spoilers. And when they do, they are very confused. I tend to view finding out about something equal to reading a brochure about a place you’re going to go. You can prepare for it, but actually experiencing it is something completely different and no matter how much you learn or hear, it won’t change that.

However, with spoilers also comes rumors and things that are subject to change. While looking to see if anyone has found any news on the other Akk Dogs and Lobels, I found something interesting.

Discussion about what may possibly be the next event (For those who have forgotten, the last event was the Rakghoul Pandemic). And what has been found? The Grand Acquisitions Race.

What it sounds like it is a Scavenger Hunt that requires you to do various tasks on various planets to get all the items. And it seems as you reward, an item similar to the DNA Samples. And at the very least, not only have the Devs said they are planning another event (though, the when was never stated), the Event section of the codex has now been bumped up to 10.

I wouldn’t be surprised if some of the pets were gotten through it (I’d love if all 4 were, but I know it probably won’t happen) considering the some of the Raklings were. Not to mention a mount and weapons too.

However, the question is where would this event start? Part of me thinks the guy will just appear on the fleet, but who knows. I kind of hope a hint is given beforehand as I just…don’t care for surprises and waiting in Tatooine was fun too (and less murderous for my computer).

Now, what if the pets weren’t from the Event? It is completely possible they’re not (and if they are, probably only one of each or just the other 2 of one of the species) afterall.

So, I decided to think about where they could be. Unfortunately, that’s easier said than done.

Lobels:
Well, the only place I can think of them are Quesh. There is a world boss on Quesh and it’s not like a pet hasn’t dropped from a World Boss before. Now, would a robot actually have a Lobel? Who knows. But it’s about the only thing I can think of right now. (though, because of this, I feel Lobel may be more likely to be the Event Pet over the Akk Dog).

Akk Dogs:
Now, the M0-GUL Thrall Droid drops from Karagga. Kephess is rumored to drop the Wonderous/Wondrous Egg (really wish we could have some confirmation already). Each Operation has speeders that are dropped, but Eternity Vault has no pets speculated…there are, however, a lot of Akk Dogs in there, so I think the idea that Soa (or Gharj) could drop it is interesting. Of course, that only helps one (Unless both Soa and Gharj could have different ones, but I don’t think they’d do that…on the otherhand, they did it with a Flash Point (Lost Island)). It could also be a first for a different pet received depending on difficulty (which I…really hope not). It’s just…something to think about.

As for the other (if only one was in the operation), I honestly have no idea. There are Akk Dogs on Tatooine (So Tatooine World Boss is possible)–not to mention there is always the possibility still of it being one of each for the upcoming Event too.

*Only one pet hasn’t been found yet from 1.2–The Orochick that hatches from the Wonderous/Wondrous Egg. Could it be that it needs to be purchased, but where? I’d like to think someone would’ve stumbled across it by now if so, but there are people who still didn’t know you could purchase Taunta an an example. And it’s possible a new/secret vendor was put in as well.

So, if we went by that subject, both of the new pets found would be under Purchased–leaving one of each for dropped and one of each for Exploration… it’s just something to think about, isn’t it?

…I wish I knew more people who cared about pets. Maybe we could test some things out 🙁

I GOT TAUNLING!

OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG. I found a group and they were okay with me using Master Looter and TAUNLING (well, the Exotic Animal Crate) DROPPED AND OMGOMGOMGOMG.

So, I actually waited up to see when Gargath would spawn. It seems the spawn time is now 4 hours which sucks. And he was apparently killed 20 minutes before we got there. I ended up talking with various Imperial people and the person I had spoken to earlier who had some back said if I still had my group, we could go, but I explained everyone left and I doubt I could get another group together, but appreciated the offer.

And of course, Taunling drops. The Exotic Animal Crate dropped. It dropped -right in front of me- and dear god did that hurt. I wish I could be like “oh, no big deal” and in some ways it isn’t–like I don’t care if now I won’t be first on the server, but to know that it had dropped it and it could’ve been the one we defeated is a horrible feeling. I wouldn’t have to keep camping him–it’d be something down and yet it’s not.

Of course, I don’t think loot is generated when the monster spawns, but the moment it is defeated so I mean, even if we did defeat it, there’s no guarantee right? Unless it is generated when the monster spawns and that would leave me feeling even worse.

Overall though, I think the one word I can find myself feeling is “broken”. I don’t think I can describe it anymore than that. I guess I should try to get some sleep now… regardless, this is going to make every failure hit even harder and hurt worse by the second.

Edit: how it’s gone today:
1st Gargath attempt – no drop
2nd Gargath attempt – it drops. nearly everyone needs. I got an 87. Beaten by 8 points due to a guildmate getting a 95 T__T I guess I’d rather him win than someone random (and the only reason he rolled need is as he saw random people doing so), but being that close and losing sucks 3rd Gargath Attempt – No pet drop. Dropped the Ice Scrabbler Jerky though…but bleh.

Tauntaun Ram + Frustration

My Tauntaun Ram came in the mail today! SO CUTE 😀 I love his little backpack. Was very excited to pick him up.

I had my boyfriend set up the program I use to connect to my computer from my laptop (As I am currently out of state due to working) so I could pick up my Tauntuan. Was super exciting.

However, to my surprise, I got a whisper inviting me to try and form a Gargath group! I explained how due to being out of state, I probably shouldn’t go as I wouldn’t be able to do anything, but they told me to come along anyway as they knew how much I wanted to get Taunling. So, I was slowly moving myself to my ship to go to Hoth when the internet here died.

I could not get it back (Currently using my phone) and I’m beyond upset right now. The chance doesn’t come up much to begin with and I just feel absolutely devastated right now. I wouldn’t be surprised if Taunling finally dropped just to spite me :/

blah, I just want to cry.

Edit: They were nice enough to understand what happened T~T (And figured as much). Also, apparently nothing dropped…I still feel bad though.

To Rakghoul or not to Rakghoul: That is the question

At this point, we have gotten everything we’ve wanted (Well, my boyfriend is thinking of collecting the other companion skins for the heck of it) and finished the containment officer outfit, so we’re wondering if we should even still continue? Main reason we’re even debating it is there may be something special at the end, but I really hope they don’t do that. We were hoping to maybe grind up our Imperial alts until we found out that the dailies are essentially…literally dailies. You have to do them each day for the new quests to pop up and with the event ending Tuesday (And I actually have to leave on a trip next week so I will be packing Sunday and Monday), there’s not enough time to do it which is kind of depressing as I know he really wanted the Imperial Containment Suit too (and it’s unfortunately bind on pick-up).

With those out of the way and with Taunlet now gotten, however, that brings us back to just needing groups for the other pets which is a pain to get together and then a lot of them will probably want the pet too and fsl;afkafl;asf;lafs X__x I don’t mind helping people get their pets. I have no issue going back after getting mine and helping them out, but with my horrible drop luck and OCPD, I just like getting them out of the way ASAP. It helps me relax a lot more and then I’m not panicking every 20 10 5 seconds always. At the moment, I’m just sitting by Karagga’s as I haven’t been there in a while and when it comes down to it, I really like doing things in order so if I chose how to get pets, it’d be:

1. Karagga’s Palace – Due to being pre-1.2
2. Taunling – Gargath – World Boss = before Hard Modes
3. Midnight Rakling & Mysterious Egg – HM Lost Island (newest Flashpoint)
4. Wondrous Egg – Still unconfirmed, but supposedly from Explosive Conflict (New operation)

So yeah, I like to take care of them in foremost and then if they came out at the same time…by difficulty since that’s essentially the order I would get them in while leveling up.

In the meantime, my computer is having a mental break down 😀 And I really need a new computer (and a new laptop as well because apparently the overheating issue is actually a manufacturer error and it could explode :3) which doesn’t help things either.

Besides continuing on my Pet Quest (and keeping the Tauntaun and Rakling/Other unmmentioned 1.2 pets threads updated on the official forums), I’m also continuing to save for Legacy Ship stuff–as for how it’s going, I have about 560K because I really really really suck at this 😀

Plans are still as follows:
1. Repair Droid – 1 million
2. Neutral GTN – 5 million
3. Mailbox – 500K
4. Both Dummies – 1 million

After that, I’ll probably either go for the Rocket Boots (2 million) or the Twi’lek race (1.5 million) so I get the other colors and can finally remake my Smuggler. I know my boyfriend also wants me to get the Zabrak Race I want to get for my Trooper (1.5 million as well), but if I do my Twi’lek first (most likely–I expect Trooper/Commando will be last for me out of all my characters), I’ll probably go for the rocket boots next. As for character playing, I expect it to be:
1. Sage (My main)
2. Sorcerer (Main Imperial)
3. Smuggler (Scoundrel) or Imperial Agent (Operative)
4. Whichever I don’t do above first
5. Bounty Hunter (Mercenary)
6. Trooper (Commando)

Also, since I’ve been asked why my blogs rarely ever have pictures… I usually type these on my laptop while I’m playing the game on my computer. If I had two screens on my computer, there’d probably be more pictures but since whenever I take a screenshot, it is on my computer and I can’t really minimize the game, it’s just a huge hassle. I’d love to have pictures, but just can’t ATM 🙁

Oh, and I’m probably going to edit the categories a bit today and make things a bit more orderly. (OCPD, away~)

TAUNLET GET!

Big thank you to Vorg for making my Jerky! It took me a while to find it (yes, it is down below), but I’m happy I did 😀 Taunlet is adorable. I almost was a bit too slow–panicked a bit there. Now I just need Taunling and my Tauntaun collection is complete! It’ll probably take a while for the Orobird and Rakling collections to be complete though 🙁

Oh, and I have to say, if I ever do finish the new operation, I think I’ll just stay a while and explore. There’s just SO MUCH to see. It’s insane. Would love to just stay for a while and take screenshots.

Various going-on’s for the day~

Firstly, Newly Infected = worst quest. That is horrible T__T *CREEPED OUT FOREVER* Unfortunately, it gives both the chest and belt so if you want both…you have to do it again 😐

Anyway, we’re getting our dailies done a bit late tonight. I had gotten home from work late and while we had planned to start after dinner, I was then brought along to a 16-man Explosive Conflict. This was only my second 16-man and my first time going to Explosive Conflict. We got the first boss down and Denova is just absolutely beautiful. So many waterfalls T~T

But yeah, we may try again later/tomorrow so that could be fun. (And we got another guild invite @-@ Though, as I said, we’re just kind of going solo right now due to depressing feelings)

I was hoping to get Taunlet today–found people who may be able to make it…but my computer crashed while talking to the one person (He made one…but then ate it by mistake 🙁 Luckily, I had extra stuff but…bleh) and when I got back on, he was gone ._. The other person I just couldn’t catch. I do hope I get it soon.

But yes, that’s mostly what was done today. Not too much. Anyway, I shall hopefully get screenshots up for my character’s page eventually… just need to stop forgetting.
